You're right, but I think that might be a hard place for many of us to start. Compassion is desperately needed for times like these, but it is also incredibly challenging for us as humans to even show compassion to those we love and care for sometimes, so getting to a place where we can show compassion to those who have hurt or killed loved ones is a lifelong journey. But I think it's a challenge worth taking on. Does anyone want to join me in taking some time for lovingkindness meditation this week?

May I be peaceful.
May I be happy.
May I be well.
May I be safe.
May I be free from suffering.

May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be well.
May all beings be safe.

i don't know if it's a starting point necessarily, but there is something that needs to be worked towards if "wholeness" is what is desired. and that is compassion for the evil-doer(s). because they have committed evil acts, but are not evil. they are flesh and blood and beating hearts like the rest of us, taking the most vile aspects of our innermost thoughts and projecting them outwardly and extremely on the world stage.
